Joe Biden has been a politician for almost fifty years. What has he accomplished? A look at the Congressional record reveals that Amtrak Joe was not the sharpest knife in the rack.
He was also inconsistent. For example, Senator Biden introduced a bill to make burning the American flag in 1989. While most Americans do not want to see our flag burned, this had already been decided by the Supreme Court in Texas v. Johnson. The court ruled that due to the first amendment, flag burning is constitutional.
So, Biden, along with Senator Roth, R, Delaware, Biden, along with two Republican senators, initiated the Biden-Roth-Cohen Flag Protection Act. Unlike President Joe Biden, he worked with Republicans. This bill also crashed and burned in the Supreme Court.
The first amendment protects freedom of speech, freedom of peaceful association, and freedom to exercise one’s chosen religion, and freedom of the press.
When it comes to freedom of speech, there is some wiggle room. If you shout “fire,” in a packed theater causing panic and perhaps a dangerous stampede, your freedom of speech is canceled. I am not sure why anyone would shout fire, but nowadays anything is possible. As a retired psychiatric nurse, I have seen and heard almost everything.
Biden’s bill was struck down by the Supreme Court via United States v. Eichman as being unconstitutional.
At first, you don’t succeed, try, try again. The Senate, which tried to pass another amendment to our Constitution, prohibiting the burning of the flag, was almost passed but did not have a two-thirds majority as required. The Senate vote was 51-48.
Biden voted nay. Why did he vote the way he did? According to a government watchdog group, Govtrackinsider.com, Biden said, “ If we adopt this amendment, we would fray the comment that the flag embodies. We would become the first Congress in the history of this nation to limit the Bill of Rights.”
I do not profess to be a Constitutional scholar, but this seems like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. If it should be done, why swim against the current? Common sense dictates that the first amendment will continue to protect our free speech no matter how many amendments follow.
At present, there are twenty-seven amendments to the Constitution. Before I draw my last breath, there could easily be thirty, depending upon what political party is running the show.
Then there was the passport fee issue. He had a constituent whose family member, died in Iraq on active duty. His wife, a German citizen, wanted him buried in Germany. Biden successfully got the passport fee waived. Funerals are expensive and the military gets them gratis, which any loyal American would support. My father died after his 41st birthday, and we were able to get his funeral paid for.
Passports for adults are good for 10 years. The real expense for these folks would not have been the passport fee; it would have been the round-trip ticket to Germany and hotels. As a confirmed travel addict, I can tell you that a passport fee is nothing compared to rising airfare.
As the scope of this President’s mind, or what is left of it, is like this is giving Halloween treats out that equal one Hershey’s kiss. He was merely tossing the peasants some crumbs. Why not give them military transport and hotel vouchers? That would have been a better solution. Actually, he is so wealthy from ill-gotten gains that he could have personally bought them a first-class ticket to Germany and back. That, and a reasonable hotel for the family.
Here is a concise list of what Senator Biden sponsored: He wanted to change eligibility for American Legion members; he wanted to combat genocide (don’t we all?); he wanted to honor the 500th birthday of Nicholas Copernicus, who proved that the earth revolved around the sun and not vice versa; he wanted to ban steroids for sports; he wanted to allow 9/11 victims to sue; (they did without his help,) and he sponsored other bland bills.
Are you asleep yet? I must have another coffee as I am struggling to stay awake writing this.
Biden is as bland as white rice. He also said of Barack Obama: “A nice and clean African American.” Or something to that effect. I have known, at times biblically, black folks. They take showers like the rest of us, rest assured.
Senator Biden passed a few more bills; though as far as my research took me, nothing he sponsored was earth-shaking. For fairness sake, I must reveal that we live very far from the District of Criminals, known to most as D.C. During past visits, I did peruse the Archives of Congress. It is free to go in and look. I like to see what these miscreants are up to.
If you are thinking of voting for a specific candidate, there is a nifty tool you should check out: opensecrets.org.
This is what they reported about the then-Senator, Joe Biden.
The industries that have given the most to Biden during his career include lawyers/law firms ($6.6 million), real estate ($1.3 million), and retirees ($1 million). Biden is among the top 10 members of Congress to receive money from lawyers and law firms since the 1990 election cycle and among the top 20 to collect contributions from the real estate industry. His largest contributor over time has been credit card giant MBNA Corp. ($214,100), which, despite being acquired by Bank of America a few years ago, remains atop the list of Biden’s major contributors. As an industry, finance and credit companies have contributed nearly $300,000 to Biden in his career, making them his 12th most generous industry.
Incidentally, one of Biden’s top donors, law firm Baron & Budd, was in the news recently because its founder, trial lawyer Fred Baron, acknowledged paying for former presidential candidate John Edwards’s mistress to re-locate. Baron & Budd employees have given Biden $108,100 during his career. A number of other plaintiff firms are among Biden’s top contributors.
Perhaps Obama chose him as VP because he was so bland and boring. My significant other believes that Biden was an insurance policy for Obama, who may have considered the possibility of assassination.
Believe it or not, some folks are prejudiced against black people. I am not one of them. I went Black but I did come back. What I want from a President is strength. Teddy Roosevelt comes to mind. “Walk softly and carry a big stick.”
Exactly, The bigger the government the smaller the person. 2022 cannot come soon enough for me. The New Democratic Socialist Party will be replaced. Perhaps it will wither and die. Kamala the Laughing Hyena will continue to win the Miss Mediocre contest. I suppose she has feathered her nest; let us hope she has not laid other Democratic hatchlings.
What would happen to those hatchlings, when she fades from the political scene? Well, we could find a few good homes for them. Perhaps we could start with the educational system. That is in dire need of converted Democrats. It used to be that faculties, deans, and university presidents were staunch Republicans.
Then, something happened. Stacks of cash, a product of LBJ’s “Great Society,” flooded into every campus in this nation. So, everyone, regardless of ability, was able to attend college. New courses sprung up with the women’s movement.
This is an example: Womens’ studies, LGBTQ studies, and a potpourri of useless degrees. I confess that I own one “Useless Degree in History.”
However, that degree has served me well. History always repeats itself. Now, I can look at any newspaper and dissect the intent behind it. I made one mistake; I dismissed an offer and to go to Harrisburg, Pa for an internship. At the time, I was simply burned out from studying. That internship may have landed me a permanent position in government.
Oddly enough, I may have met my husband there instead of a bar in Philadelphia. He had many clients in Harrisburg. But, when things are meant to be—they happen.
After marriage and two children, I did go back to school and got a trade: I am a Registered Nurse. Therefore, I am in demand, should I choose to get a real job.
Why is college looked down upon while trade schools are shunned? Try hiring a plumber in the midst of a natural disaster. We lived during Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. If you were an electrician or a plumber, that peon of a tradesman may interview You to see if you are a viable candidate.
College used to mean something. Given the superfluous degrees offered nowadays, it means so much less. I did go to a small Catholic college to get my BSN. I was encouraged to go on and become a Nurse Practitioner. However, life and family obligations intervened.
Sometimes the road planned throws you an unidentified fork. It is hard, if not impossible to choose which fork in that road is the wrong one. Perhaps, as we used to say in the 1960s, Go with the Flow.
Right now the flow is tipping decidedly Right. I predict that the New Democratic Socialist Party will fold like a house of dirty cards. They may be able to get away with some things, but as we have seen with the angry Louden County, Virginia parents, they are in for a battle—they are the Tea Party on steroids.
We will fight back. We will win the ultimate battle. God is on the side of the strongest battalion. So I say to those who want to exchange our rights of free speech and free association for a Socialist paradise: Bring It.
You will be intensely sorry. It will hit you where it hurts most: In your wallet. Unfortunately, your Socialist agenda will make you intensely poorer. Do not expect the taxman to spare you because you vote Democrat. The debt is stratospheric and must be paid…by someone.
Money is fungible, it goes where it is treated best.
Under Democratic rule, if you have significant funds, it is best to fly it into the Caymen islands. Don’t forget to rent a safety deposit box. That will be for your gold. and silver.
Yes, they will find out—but not before jumping through some significant hoops.
You may also stash some in a few other nations. Israel comes to mind. The British Virgins are another option. The more hoops they have to jump through, the better.
Let them get their aerobic exercise in; find a few hidey holes and they will get winded. I suspect with the coming regime change, the wind will be blowing in your direction.
After all; It is our turn.
