Yes, I Did The 1960's with Gusto, Some Valuable Lessons Learned That Can Be Repeated
Time to Revisit that Era's Civil Disobedience
The Protests of the 1960s gave birth to womens’ and black rights.
Not everything about the 1960s was bad. The music was revolutionary and I do miss the good protests. The last real protest I went to was to The District of Criminals several years ago when we saw Glenn Beck and Alveda King speak. One very strange thing that happened then was that suddenly, and without warning, no one’s cell phone worked.
At the time, I was both shocked and dismayed. I was also suspicious. Suspicion is something we all should have and use appropriately. Fact: You don’t know what you don’t know,
Now I believe the Deep State was involved. Beck is, in his own way, is as revolutionary as Abby Hoffman. as I write this I am listening to virtually every single recording artist that I loved during the 60s and early 70s. If you can get Spotify, look for Psychedelic Rock.
That selection is the 60s on steroids. But besides evoking all sorts of pleasurable memories, another thought comes to mind. Why can’t some of the tactics we used then work today, but for a better cause?
Why can’t we use protests, sit-ins, and just raucous civil disobedience to silence what I consider to be the nexus of Anti-American forces: Tech Tyranny, Illegal Voting, and my personal favorite, Illegal Immigration.
There is no reason the Right can’t beat the Left at its own game. Plenty of we born again right-thinking citizens came from those halcyon days of free love, LSD, and yes, protests.
I have not touched LSD in decades and do not plan to. I have touched marijuana, and in fact, have a legal right, via a medical marijuana card. This is something that is not an everyday event, as it is expensive. Gone are the days when we rolled down the blinds, stuffed rugs and towels in the doorway. Now, one just uses Weedmaps to scope out the brands and what dispensary is having a sale.
I do so love sales. I buy shoes, clothing, and groceries on sale, so now I buy pot on sale.
Decades ago we could only dream of such freedom as going to a store and buying your favorite brand of smoke. I do not smoke it, having kicked the cigarette habit decades ago. The only remnant of that habit is a diagnosis of COPD, medical-speak for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
So far, this has been benign. For an old lady of 70, I really do not suffer from the any of common old-age illnesses: diabetes and high blood pressure. However, to be honest, I never dreamed I would live this long.
If I die tomorrow, that is fine because, unlike many people, I have lived as I chose to. Yes, I worked and paid taxes—nothing revolutionary there. We live in the Caribbean, which I consider heaven.
I travel. My husband hates to travel, but I was able to plow through New Mexico recently with my son. Next, I would like to revisit Colombia, and perhaps stay for a while to perfect my Spanish. Or, Chile could be our next South American adventure. Then perhaps Ecuador, but only the warm parts.
Mexico? That so-called nation I can permanently forget. Actually, I do have trouble remembering that it is in North America. My son calls it a failed state. I agree.
The US/ Mexican border should be the site of a gargantuan protest. Immigration, due to the perfidy and incompetence of the Biden administration, is broken. Another victim of this failed immigration program is the legal marijuana industry. My husband told me he believed that Biden would be more amenable to decriminalizing marijuana. I believe that Trump would have been quicker on the draw than Biden because these dispensaries create middle-class jobs.
Why on earth would anyone put Fentanyl on marijuana?
To kill Americans. That is why. Oh, where is Sam Houston when we need him? Cuba? That island shit hole should be annexed. Although we freely gave our “stuff” away in the 60s, I intend to keep whatever I own now or in the future. Although I am generous to a fault, I offer not one nickel to any leftist or anti-Israel company or product.
I was not born Jewish, but I have visited Israel and hope for a redo. Only an idiot is anti-Israel. They are the only free Democracy in a very bad neighborhood.
One thing about me has changed since the 60s. I am no longer anti-war. In fact, in many cases, to protect American lives and property, one has to do the nasty. This is one credo of mine: Yeah though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil because I am the meanest son of the bitch in the valley.
Yes, Peace through strength. One place this doctrine should be tried out immediately is Communist China. If I could have but one hour seated in the Oval Office, bombs would be raining down on China.
Why do people not get that they are the enemy? I treat them as such. Unless there is no other product available, I do not buy Chinese goods. Never. Neither should you nor your family. Hit them where it hurts most; in their pockets. I will not even eat Chinese food- my aversion to them is so strong.
My husband has had the pleasure of working and befriending Chinese due to work. Some of them I have met and liked enormously. They also hate the Chinese government. Of course, his friends are the cream of the crop. They all speak that incomprehensible language of math and most were educated in Canada.
Trump did the right thing by empowering Japan. In fact, I thought about it either simultaneously or before he did. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I would also empower Vietnam, though it too is a Communist nation…for now.
I believe that all of these Communist/Socialist nations are really Capitalists at heart. As Lyndon B Johnson said, “They want what we got.”
Well, I say they can’t have it. What say you? Are you going to continue to stuff your closets with Chinese-made goods? Or, are you going to look at tags before buying? When I buy something off of eBay, I tell the seller that I do not accept Chinese goods.
I say what I mean and I mean what I say. That is why I just sent a registered letter to Tim Cook, who I consider a cringe-worthy individual. Workers in India and China are nothing but slaves. So, he came out as gay. So what? Is that like Baptism?
I am writing this on an Apple computer because I like the way it operates. My family all have iPhones. All of these tech tyrants will soon have a very bad day. Apple and Microsoft have many anti-trust suits pending. Where- oh -where is Teddy Roosevelt when we need him?
Speaking of Microsoft, I believe Gates is a sociopath. So, boys and girls with personality and character defects, you too can grow up to be a gazillionaire—or, President of the United States.
Think about that last job. Who in their right mind would want it? Trump is on the egocentric side. However, I believe that, unlike Biden, he truly loves America and wants to protect it. Joe doesn’t love anything, except his nap time.
Hope he sleeps right up to the time he is transported to prison. Time to go to the District of Criminals and protest Biden, Dr. Fraudci, and the entire Demonic Democratic party. Like the 1960s, Let’s Party!
